Nepal’s Ambassador Presents Credentials to Canada’s Governor General

In a notable advancement in diplomatic relations, Ambassador Bharat Raj Paudyal of Nepal has officially presented his letters of credence to the Governor General of Canada, Mary J. May Simon, in a formal ceremony held on Wednesday in Ottawa.

Following the credential presentation, Ambassador Paudyal conveyed warm greetings and well wishes from Nepal’s President Ramchandra Paudel and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to Governor General Simon, emphasizing hopes for her health and the ongoing peace, progress, and prosperity of Canada. This exchange underscores the strong and friendly relations between the two nations.

During their meeting, Ambassador Paudyal detailed the current priorities of the Nepali government, notably the consolidation of democracy and the boosting of economic development efforts. He highlighted Nepal’s initiatives towards a smooth transition from Least Developed Country (LDC) status and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

Ambassador Paudyal expressed gratitude for Canada’s consistent support and pledged to enhance cooperation in areas such as bilateral trade, tourism, investment, and technology transfer. He stressed the importance of strengthening people-to-people relations and developing mutually beneficial economic partnerships.

The Governor General reciprocated the sentiments, expressing her best wishes to Nepal’s leadership and satisfaction with the excellent state of bilateral relations. She assured continued support from the Government of Canada to further fortify these ties.

The ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials from the Canadian government and staff members of the Nepali Embassy, marking a reaffirmation of the strong bonds between the two countries.
