Nepse Index Dips Further

The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) saw a continuation of its bearish trend as it closed the first trading day of the week on Sunday, marking a third consecutive session of losses. The index concluded at 1,960.30 points, reflecting a decline of 11.78 points.

Market observers noted that out of the listed companies, only 67 experienced gains, while 173 witnessed a decline, with eight remaining unchanged. Despite a temporary recovery that erased a significant portion of the losses, the index took a plunge towards the closing hours, resulting in a 0.59% drop.

Sonapur Minerals and Oil Ltd emerged as the top-traded entity of the day, with shares worth Rs 132.05 million changing hands. Following closely were Shivam Cement and Himalayan Reinsurance Company Ltd, with turnovers of Rs 90.38 million and Rs 83.01 million, respectively.

In terms of trading groups, the Manufacturing & Processing and Hotels & Tourism sectors showed marginal improvements, while all other sub-indices closed in the negative territory. Notably, the Trading sub-index suffered the most significant setback, plummeting by 2.52%.

Trading activity remained relatively active, with a total of 5.57 million units of shares valued at Rs 2.08 billion traded on the bourse during Sunday’s session.
