NEPSE Witnesses Last-Minute Surge Propelling Index to 2,076.27 Points

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) experienced a last-minute surge in trading activities on Monday. Hovering steadily at 2,064.66 points until 2:59 pm, the NEPSE index witnessed a sudden and rapid increase in the final minute of trading, reaching an impressive 2,076.27 points. This marked a significant rise of 14.57 points compared to the previous day’s closing.

On the same day, the market saw positive movements in the prices of 148 companies, while 86 companies experienced a decrease in their stock prices. Prices of 13 companies remained stable. Despite the mixed performance of individual stocks, the overall turnover for the day saw a decline, with today’s turnover limited to Rs 2.43 billion compared to yesterday’s Rs 3.21 billion.

The ‘Other’ group emerged as the highest gainer, experiencing a growth of 4.6 percent during the trading session.

In terms of points, the sector-wise performance varied. Banking witnessed a modest increase of 1 point, Development Bank surged by 26 points, Finance saw a rise of 6 points, Hydropower gained 13 points, Life Insurance increased by 19 points, Microfinance rose by 17 points, Others exhibited a remarkable growth of 82 points, and Trading observed a modest increase of 4 points.

However, some sectors faced a decrease in points. Non-life insurance declined by 44 points, Manufacturing decreased by 5 points, and the Hotel and Tourism group witnessed a dip of 11 points.

Investors and market analysts are closely observing these fluctuations, and the unexpected last-minute surge has sparked discussions and speculations within the financial community. The coming days will likely see increased attention as stakeholders analyze the market dynamics that led to this remarkable closing surge on Monday.
