Janardan Sharma, Deputy General Secretary of the ruling CPN (Maoist Centre), has announced that he will not observe Bhaitika this year. Sharma cited the recent devastating earthquake in Jajarkot as the reason behind his decision.
The earthquake, which struck on the night of 17th Kartik, resulted in a tragic loss of human lives, with at least 154 people reported dead. In light of this catastrophe, Sharma expressed his solidarity with the affected families and communities by opting not to wear Bhaitika on this Wednesday, when the festival is traditionally celebrated.
Sharma’s decision reflects a somber acknowledgment of the immense human suffering caused by the natural disaster, highlighting the need for compassion and support during these challenging times.
