Oli’s Bowling-Batting in Pokhara Amidst Tension in Kathmandu
In Kathmandu, tensions rise as two groups, the National Youth Federation affiliated with the CPN-UML, and a faction led by Durga Prasain, are staging separate demonstrations.
Meanwhile, UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, who has been at odds with Durga Prasain, is in Pokhara for the KP Oli Cup T-20 National Cricket Tournament.
Arriving at Pokhara Stadium at 10:30 am on Thursday, Oli steered clear of political discussions during the tournament’s opening ceremony. Instead, he focused on the government’s responsibility for stadium construction and player development.
Following his speech, Oli took to the cricket ground, facing two balls bowled by party Vice Chair Bishnu Paudel, successfully touching both. The Vice Chair also had his turn facing Oli’s bowling.
Chair Oli is currently watching the match between Bagmati Province and Madan Bhandari Sports Academy. His return to Kathmandu is scheduled for after 3 pm, leaving the handling of the Kathmandu demonstrations to General Secretary Shankar Pokharel.
The situation in the capital remains tense as the power struggle between the two groups continues.
