One-Sided Love Leads to Tragic Murder in Kathmandu
In a chilling revelation, the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office disclosed the details of a harrowing crime during a press conference on Sunday. The police announced the arrest of 21-year-old Rupendra Lama in connection with the murder of 18-year-old Sushma Lama from Kathmandu’s Gokarneshwor Municipality-3.
The investigation uncovered a distressing tale of unrequited love turning fatal. Rupendra Lama, driven by his one-sided affection for Sushma, allegedly committed the heinous act after she rejected his advances.
The tragic incident unfolded on February 7 when Sushma, on her routine journey to college, encountered Rupendra. The police revealed that the suspect approached Sushma, professed his feelings, and resorted to violence when faced with rejection.
Sushma’s lifeless body was discovered by authorities on March 7 in the dense foliage of Shivapuri National Park, located in Gokarneshwar Municipality-3. She was found buried, with only her hands visible, approximately 10 meters below the road leading to her college.
The investigation further unearthed that both individuals had frequented the forest together for the past one to two years, engaging in activities like grass-cutting and goat-grazing. It was during these encounters that Rupendra developed feelings for Sushma.
Following the tragic event, Rupendra allegedly buried Sushma in a makeshift grave he had dug.
As the nation reels from this senseless act of violence, authorities assure the public that the investigation is ongoing, with efforts aimed at delivering justice for Sushma and her grieving loved ones. The tragic loss of a promising young life serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by unchecked emotions and the importance of fostering a culture of respect and consent.
