Opposition Stands Firm: NC Seeks Parliamentary Committee to Investigate Home Minister

The Nepali Congress (NC), Nepal’s leading opposition party, has renewed its demand for the establishment of a parliamentary committee to investigate alleged fraudulent activities involving Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane. This call for action was reinforced during a crucial meeting of the party’s former and current office bearers held at the residence of NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba in Budhanilkantha on Wednesday.

Vice President of NC, Dhanraj Gurung, emphasized the party’s unwavering position on the need for a comprehensive parliamentary investigation into the accusations against Minister Lamichhane. The party has been vocal in accusing Lamichhane of involvement in a cooperative fraud case, demanding transparency and accountability.

The push for the investigative committee comes as the government prepares to commence the budget session of the parliament this Friday. The Nepali Congress has stated it will continue to press for the formation of the committee during this session.

In the previous winter session, the party had significantly disrupted parliamentary proceedings to highlight their demands, signaling the severity of their concerns regarding the allegations against the Home Minister. The Nepali Congress remains committed to pursuing this issue to ensure thorough scrutiny and uphold justice.
