Padam Prasad Pandey Recommended as Federal Parliament General Secretary

Padam Prasad Pandey, the current secretary of the House of Representatives, has been recommended for the position of Federal Parliament General Secretary. The recommendation comes in the wake of the resignation of Dr. Bharat Raj Gautam, the former General Secretary.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dev Raj Ghimire, and the National Assembly Chairman, Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, jointly recommended Padam Prasad Pandey for the crucial role following the departure of Dr. Gautam. Dr. Gautam had submitted his resignation to President Ramchandra Paudel on Sunday, citing personal reasons.

The official press note issued by Shekhar Adhikari, the press advisor to the Speaker, states, “Pandey has been recommended for the position of the general secretary as per Article 106 of the Constitution following the joint recommendation of the Speaker of the lower house and the Chairman of the upper house.” The note further highlights that Dr. Bharat Raj Gautam resigned for personal reasons, prompting the need for a new appointment.
