Oli Minimizes Concerns Over Koshi Province Naming

Unified Marxist-Leninist (UML) Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has downplayed the sensitivities associated with the naming of Koshi Province, advising that it should not be a significant concern. Speaking at a celebratory event for Suhang Nembang’s recent electoral win in Ilam Constituency 2, Oli stressed that Nepali identity should come first.

“The name of the province shouldn’t be based on any specific caste, individual, or surname,” Oli stated, emphasizing that national unity supersedes all other identities. He further remarked on the electoral victory in Ilam, noting, “The Sun won in Ilam, and that is our identity. It is our destination and purpose,” referencing the election symbol of his party.

Oli also highlighted the local development responsibilities of newly elected representative Suhang Nembang. He praised Nembang’s suitability for continuing the development trajectory set by his father, Subas Nembang, whom Oli remembered as a committed advocate for the people.

Asserting UML’s focus on economic prosperity, Oli reaffirmed his commitment to support the developmental endeavors in Ilam alongside Suhang Nembang.
