Parliamentary Committee Gives Go-Ahead to Judicial Council’s Justice Picks

The Parliamentary Hearing Committee has given the green light to all six justices nominated for the Supreme Court (SC). The Judicial Council had recommended the names of Saranga Subedi, Abdul Ajij Musalman, Mahesh Sharma Poudel, Tek Prasad Dhungana, Sunil Pokharel, and Bal Krishna Dhala for these esteemed positions, and their endorsements were successfully secured during the committee meeting held on Wednesday.

The approval paves the way for these individuals to assume their roles as justices at the Supreme Court, pending the completion of formalities such as swearing-in and adherence to the oath of office and secrecy. As per constitutional provisions, the President’s appointment of judges necessitates prior approval from the Parliamentary Hearing Committee.
