PM Dahal to attend 19th NAM Summit in Uganda

In a significant diplomatic move, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is set to visit Uganda in the first week of January to represent Nepal at the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) member states. The announcement was made by Government Spokesperson Rekha Sharma during a media briefing on Wednesday, where she revealed that the Prime Minister will lead a Nepalese delegation at the Summit, scheduled to take place on January 19-20.

Prime Minister Prachanda’s participation in the NAM Summit underscores Nepal’s commitment to multilateralism and its active engagement on the global stage. The Non-Aligned Movement, comprising 120 member states, plays a crucial role in fostering cooperation and dialogue among nations that are not aligned with any major power bloc.

Foreign Minister NP Saud will also play a pivotal role in Nepal’s representation at the Summit by participating in the ministerial meeting of NAM member states, scheduled for January 17 and 18. The ministerial discussions are expected to address various global challenges and opportunities, emphasizing the NAM’s commitment to promoting peace, security, and sustainable development.

This diplomatic endeavor aims to strengthen Nepal’s ties with fellow NAM member states and foster collaboration on issues of common interest. Prime Minister Prachanda’s presence at the Summit is anticipated to contribute to the discourse on global affairs and enhance Nepal’s diplomatic standing in the international arena.
