PM Prachanda Urges Mayor Balen: Listen Before You Walk Away!

In a notable turn of events at the foundation day celebration of Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ took the opportunity to advise Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah on the crucial importance of actively listening to others.

The Prime Minister’s remarks were prompted by an incident during the program when Mayor Balen abruptly got up and walked away, leaving a sense of frustration among the attendees.

Expressing his discontent, Prime Minister Dahal stated, “Balendraji first spoke and walked. I feel a little irritated with those who talk, speak, and walk away without listening to others.”

During his address as the chief guest at the event, PM Dahal emphasized that it is not enough for individuals to merely express their opinions; they must also engage in meaningful conversations by actively listening to different perspectives.

The Prime Minister cited instances where Mayor Balen discussed critical issues such as the management of landless squatters in Bagmati, land in Tinkune, and garbage management. However, he questioned the Mayor’s commitment, asking, “How many times did you meet with us for those problems in Singha Durbar? Who else can you get a supportive Prime Minister like me?”

Encouraging Mayor Balen to recognize the significance of collaboration and engagement with the federal government, PM Dahal stressed the need for open communication and dialogue. He urged officials to work together to address challenges and foster a more cooperative approach to governance.

Mayor Balen had previously expressed concerns about the lack of support from the Federal Government regarding waste management and river encroachment. In response, Prime Minister Dahal called for a collaborative effort, emphasizing that effective governance requires all levels of government to work hand in hand.
