
Police Seize Rs 16 Million Worth of Red Sandalwood in Kapilvastu


The police in Kapilvastu have confiscated a substantial quantity of red sandalwood valued at Rs 16 million and 300 thousand. This seizure took place in Buddhabhumi Municipality-1, Pattharkot, on a Sunday afternoon.
Acting on a tip-off, a specialized police team, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Ganga Bahadur Thapa from the District Police Office in Kapilvastu, successfully recovered the red sandalwood during a routine security check earlier today.
The illicit red sandalwood, which weighed a total of 653 kilograms and 150 grams, was concealed in a truck with registration number Na 5 Kha 7382, which was en route to Kapilvastu from Arghakhanchi. Additionally, 36 kilograms and 18 grams of sandalwood were discovered stashed in the trunk of a Balero pick-up van with registration Lu 2 Cha 1639, which was traveling alongside the truck.
The police have apprehended the individual responsible for transporting the contraband and have taken custody of both the seized vehicles and the red sandalwood. All items have been promptly handed over to the Division Forest Office in Taulihawa, Kapilvastu, for further legal action.
