Prime Minister Dahal Set to Begin China Visit

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is all set to commence his week-long visit to China, starting Friday. Currently in New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly, Dahal will be departing for Hangzhou, China, today.

The visit comes at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart, Li Qiang, and Dahal is scheduled to depart from New York at 1.30 pm local time.

After delivering his address at the United Nations General Assembly, the official agenda for Dahal’s China visit was unveiled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday. The preparations for this visit have been ongoing for some time, with significant groundwork laid following his visit to India.

One of the highlights of the visit will be Prime Minister Dahal’s meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, scheduled for Saturday. President Xi is expected to be in Hangzhou to attend the opening ceremony of the 19th Asian Games, and the meeting with Dahal will take place afterward.

Upon his arrival in Hangzhou on Saturday at 10 am, Prime Minister Dahal will receive a warm welcome from Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Subsequently, the initial meeting between Dahal and President Xi is set for 12.30 pm, where they will share lunch together. Following this, a bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Dahal and President Xi is slated for 4 pm on Saturday.

After the official meetings conclude, Dahal will participate in the opening ceremony of the 19th Asian Games, scheduled for 8 pm.

On the following day, Sunday, Dahal is expected to arrive in Beijing at 12 pm and will be received by a Chinese minister at the Beijing airport.

A formal bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Dahal and his counterpart, Li Qiang, is scheduled for Monday at 10 am. A welcome program has been organized for him at the “Great Hall of the People” in Tiananmen Square, and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army is set to provide a “guard of honor” for Dahal.

The formal meeting between Prime Minister Dahal and Li is expected to last approximately 2 hours, during which various agreements are anticipated to be signed.

During his week-long visit, Dahal is also scheduled to deliver an address at the ‘Nepal-China Investment Conference,’ a joint initiative by the FNCCI and China International Trade Promotion Council. This event will be held at the Nepali Embassy in Beijing.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dahal will additionally conduct an inspection of agricultural and industrial development in Chongqing municipality.

Prime Minister Dahal is slated to return on September 30th, concluding his significant visit to China.
