Prime Minister Oli Dismisses Maoist Centre’s Protest as ‘Political Restlessness’
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli stated that “nonissues must not be made issues,” during remarks to the press at Biratnagar Airport on Monday evening. Addressing recent protests and agitation by the CPN (Maoist Centre), PM Oli described them as reflective of the party’s “restlessness” over being out of government. His comments came in response to recent criticisms by Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal concerning the U.S. State Partnership Program (SPP).
When asked about the possibility of forming a commission for constitutional amendments, PM Oli, who also leads the CPN-UML, asserted that a commission was unnecessary, as amendments fall under parliamentary jurisdiction.
Addressing further questions on the government’s approach to economic growth, PM Oli emphasized a focus on “running industries and factories for economic prosperity.” In response to why industries have not yet received electricity despite government directives, he assured the matter was under review.
PM Oli’s visit to Biratnagar came on his return to Kathmandu after delivering an address at the 13th BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan.
