Prime Minister Prachanda Returns Home Following NAM Summit in Uganda

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has returned home after visiting Uganda. He arrived on Sunday morning following his participation in the 19th summit of the member states of the Non-Aligned Movement held in Uganda’s capital, Kampala.

The NAM summit took place in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda, on January 19-20. PM Dahal led a delegation that included his daughter Ganga Dahal, Foreign Minister Narayan Prakash Saud, Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal, and senior officials of the Nepalese government.

PM Dahal addressed the summit held under the theme, ‘deepening global cooperation for shared global affluence’ on Friday.

Nepal, a founding member of NAM, has actively participated in NAM summits since its establishment. Non-alignment remains one of the fundamental foreign policy principles of Nepal. NAM was established in 1961.

PM Dahal, who departed on Thursday morning via Qatar Airlines to Uganda, arrived in Kathmandu this morning via Doha, the capital of Qatar.

The Tribhuvan International Airport was temporarily closed for about half an hour during his landing. Due to the VVIP flight, it was announced that the landing of other aircraft had been halted by issuing a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen).
