Ilam By-election: Peaceful Voting Underway for House Representative

Voting for the House of Representatives by-election in Ilam constituency-2 commenced this morning, with polls opening at 7:00 AM. The by-election, which has attracted significant attention, is being held to fill the vacant seat in the constituency.

Chief Election Officer Keshav Prasad Ghimire confirmed that voting is proceeding smoothly and without any disturbances across 149 polling stations located in 79 polling centers throughout the district. The process has been characterized by high organization and stringent security measures to ensure a peaceful voting environment.

Prominent candidates from the major political parties were among the early voters. Suhang Nembang from CPN (UML) and Damber Khadka from Nepali Congress exercised their voting rights at the Mahendra Ratna Multiple Campus in Ilam municipality-7. Additionally, Milan Limbu from Rastriya Swatantra Party voted at the Janata Kalyan Basic School located in Mangsebung rural municipality, and independent candidate Dekendra Singh Thegim cast his ballot at the Singha Devi Secondary School in Phakphokthum rural municipality-3.

The constituency has reported a total of 115,889 registered voters eligible to participate in this electoral process. Authorities have emphasized the importance of every vote and are encouraging a strong turnout to decide the new representative fairly and democratically.
