Prime Minister Prachanda’s One-Year Term : [In Photos]

In a political journey marked by twists and turns, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, completed his one-year term as the Prime Minister of Nepal today. Appointed for the third time on December 25, 2022, following the 2022 Nepalese general election, he faced both challenges and accomplishments during his tenure.

After securing victory in a vote of confidence in the House on January 10, 2023, with an overwhelming majority of 268 out of 270 present members in favor of him, Prachanda initially formed an alliance with CPN (UML). However, the alliance faced a setback as UML withdrew its support, prompting Prachanda to forge a new coalition with the Nepali Congress and other parties, thereby sustaining his position as the Prime Minister.

One noticeable change during Prachanda’s third term was his attire. Decked up in Daura-Suruwal, Nepal’s national dress, he took the oath of office and secrecy from President Bidya Devi Bhandari at Shital Niwas. This marked a significant departure, as it was perhaps the first time that the Prime Minister attended a public function in the traditional attire.

In a display of openness and inclusivity, Prachanda made public visits to religious areas during his tenure, fostering a connection with diverse communities within and outside the country. His outreach extended beyond national boundaries as he embarked on a foreign tour, engaging in diplomatic endeavors to strengthen Nepal’s ties with the global community.

As we reflect on Prachanda’s transformative year as Prime Minister, we present a visual journey through this period, capturing moments of national significance, cultural resonance, and diplomatic milestones.
