Province Chief Parshuram Khapung to Appoint New Chief Minister on Saturday

Province Chief Parshuram Khapung of Koshi Province is set to appoint the new Chief Minister on Saturday following a crucial step in the process. The selection will be made after verifying the signatures of assembly members.

Both chief minister aspirants, Indra Angbo and Kedar Karki, have secured the support of 47 members, in accordance with Article 168 (5) of the Constitution of Nepal. In light of this development, the Office of the Chief Minister has issued a statement, requesting all assembly members to be present at the Office of the Province Chief with their identification cards for verification. This process will take place between 8 am and 2 pm on Saturday.

Kedar Karki has faced pressure from leaders of the Nepali Congress to withdraw his candidacy. In response, the Nepali Congress convened a work performance committee meeting on Friday afternoon to discuss the latest developments in Koshi Province. However, the meeting was postponed to Saturday without a decision, as Dr. Shekhar Koirala, who leads the party’s anti-establishment faction, was absent from the meeting.
