Rabi Lamichhane Admits Flaw in RSP Composition, Pledges Change

In a candid admission during the central committee meeting of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) in Jaleshwar, Mahottari, party president Rabi Lamichhane recognized the prevalence of a Chhetri-Bahun majority, particularly the “Khas Arya,” within the party’s ranks. Lamichhane characterized this imbalance as a significant flaw and emphasized the need for urgent correction.

Addressing party members, Lamichhane stated, “From the central structure to the ward level, our party is predominantly composed of ‘Khas Arya’ and men. Failing to actualize inclusion in practice is our major weakness.” He urged party members to promptly address the issue and sought a commitment from colleagues to ensure such weaknesses do not persist in the future.

Emphasizing the constitutional guarantee of inclusiveness, Lamichhane highlighted, “Neglecting inclusivity, whether knowingly or unknowingly, undermines the essence of democracy.” He underscored the importance of rectifying the situation to align with democratic principles.

Following the central committee meeting, social media erupted with criticism from the public, condemning the party’s leadership for lacking inclusivity. Photos of RSP officials were shared online, drawing attention to the imbalance within the party.

In response to the public outcry, Lamichhane took responsibility for the party’s shortcomings in his report and pledged to rectify the deficiencies. He acknowledged that the failure to ensure inclusivity amounted to a mockery of democracy and stressed the need for corrective actions to uphold the party’s commitment to democratic principles.
