Radhakrishna Kandel Wins CPN-UML Lumbini Province Chairman
In a recent election held in Butwal, Radhakrishna Kandel of Palpa emerged victorious as the new Chairman of CPN-UML Lumbini Province. Kandel, who also previously held the position of Chairman, secured his re-election by a narrow margin, defeating his opponent Hari Rijal of Pyuthan, a central member of the party, by just 2 votes.
Out of a total of 965 votes cast in the election, Kandel garnered 479 votes, while Rijal received 477 votes, making it a closely contested race.
Additionally, in the final voting results for other office bearers, Bhoj Prasad Shrestha, representing the Kandel faction, secured victory with 455 votes. Meanwhile, Bishwaraj Baral Anup from the Rijal faction received 306 votes and was appointed Vice Chairman.
Laxman Acharya, hailing from Dang and affiliated with the Kandel faction, was elected unopposed for the post of Secretary.
Moreover, Purna Budha Magar from Rolpa, representing the Rijal faction, emerged as the winner with 418 votes in his favor. His competitor, Durga Prasad Tharu from Banke, received 393 votes in the election.
