Registration of writ petition against NC President Deuba rejected
The Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected the registration of a writ petition against Nepali Congress President as leader of the main opposition in the parliament.
Registrar Narayan Panthi rejected the registration of writ petition, arguing that the issues of parliamentary jurisdiction could not be registered at the court. The parliament has the ultimate right to decide on main opposition, so court could not interpret on it. Such writ petition brought as a public interest litigation was not registered.
Advocate Bimal Pokhrel was filing the writ petition arguing that NC President Deuba could not be provided the status and benefits as main opposition leader, as the NC voted for Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ while the latter underwent a floor test on December 31.
