Ruling Alliance Agrees on Rotation of Provincial Leadership in Sudurpaschim

The ruling coalition has made a decision to rotate leadership within the Sudurpaschim provincial government, with the Nagarik Unmukti Party set to take the helm for a one-year term.

Following a morning meeting of key coalition leaders, including Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, KP Sharma Oli, Madhav Kumar Nepal, and Ranjita Shrestha, it was unanimously agreed upon that different parties would lead the provincial government in rotation.

As per the decision, the Nagarik Unmukti Party, under the leadership of Ranjita Shrestha, is poised to claim the position of Chief Minister today, with Kailash Chaudhary expected to assume the role.

The Sudurpaschim Provincial Assembly, comprising 53 members, requires a majority of 26 votes for governance. The current coalition holds 31 MPs, with support from various parties including the Maoist Center, CPN-UML, Nagarik Unmukti Party, and the Unified Socialist Party.

In addition to the coalition, the assembly includes members from the Nepali Congress, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, and an independent MP, shaping a diverse political landscape in the province.
