Russia to Provide Relief to Families of Nepali Soldiers Killed in Ukraine Conflict

The Russian government has extended a gesture of support to the families of Nepali nationals who lost their lives in the Russia-Ukraine conflict while serving in the Russian army. Amrit Bahadur Rai, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed that Russia has pledged to offer assistance to the affected families.

“Russia has assured us that they will provide relief to the families of those Nepali citizens who sacrificed their lives in the war,” stated Rai. He further added that the relief aid will be channeled through the Nepali embassy for distribution.

Previously, the process for obtaining relief involved family members traveling to Russia. However, now, the Russian government has agreed to send the funds directly to Nepal via the Nepali Embassy, easing the burden on the affected families.

While the exact timeline for the disbursement of funds remains uncertain, Rai mentioned that the Ministry will coordinate with the Russian authorities to expedite the process. The relief amount, according to sources, could range up to Rs 15 million for individuals with insurance coverage. For those without insurance, the estimated compensation stands at around Rs 7.3 million.

The Ministry emphasized that the final relief amount is yet to be determined, but assured that efforts are underway to ensure timely support for the families of the fallen soldiers.
