Scrap the Decision to Withdraw Prem Chalaune Attack Case: Yogesh Bhattarai

Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai, a Member of the House of Representatives and UML’s Secretary , has called for the immediate cancellation of the decision to withdraw the case against individuals involved in the attack on Associate Professor Prem Chalaune.

In a speech delivered in the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Bhattarai criticized the government for endorsing impunity through its decision to withdraw the case. He specifically questioned the role of Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Dhanraj Gurung, known for advocating righteousness, in signing off on the withdrawal.

“How could Minister Dhanraj Gurung, who has always stood for righteousness, sign the decision to withdraw the case?” Bhattarai passionately exclaimed.

Bhattarai further emphasized that political parties such as the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML), which bear the responsibility of nation-building, should not contribute to a climate that encourages impunity. He urged the government to reconsider its decision, emphasizing the importance of honoring past commitments, norms, and values.

“Please, withdraw this decision and demonstrate respect for your past commitments, norms, and values,” Bhattarai urged.
