Search Continues for Missing Passenger After Bus Plunges Into Marsyangdi River
The search for Gokarni Sandup Sarode, who went missing after a passenger bus plunged into the Marsyangdi River from the Prithvi Highway at Ainapahara of Aanbukhaureni Rural Municipality-2 in Tanahu district, has entered its fifth day without success.
The bus, bearing Indian registration plate UP 53 FT 7623, was en route to Kathmandu from Pokhara when it fell into the river last Friday. The tragic accident resulted in the deaths of 27 people and left 16 others injured.
Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office Tanahu, Deepak Raya, reported that despite ongoing efforts, Sarode has not yet been located. It was initially suspected that Sarode might have been trapped inside the mangled bus, which was pulled out of the river on Monday. However, Sarode’s body was not found within the wreckage.
Tragically, Sarode’s parents were among those who perished in the accident. The police continue to search for Sarode in all probable locations along the river, but his condition remains unknown.
