Second Phase of Mithila Folk Painting Competition in Madhesh Successfully Concludes

The second phase of the Mithila folk painting competition organized by Shaurya Cement has reached its conclusion, marking a significant milestone in the “Mithila Painting Madheshak Shan Ehike Ujja Karab Shauryak Abhiyan.” More than 150 talented artists submitted applications for the Madhesh State program, and 75 participants were selected for the second round.

The chosen participants were tasked with creating a unique painting on canvas within the premises of Shaurya Cement Industry’s hall, adhering to a specified theme. Out of these, 15 outstanding artists will advance to the third and final round, where they will showcase their skills by creating Mithila paintings directly on the walls of Shaurya Cement.

The third phase of the competition is scheduled to take place from Poush 2 to 7 (Dec 18-23), promising a visual spectacle for art enthusiasts and the general public alike.

The competition carries substantial rewards for the winners, with the first-place artist receiving INR 75,000, the second-place winner securing INR 50,000, and the third-place artist being awarded INR 25,000. Additionally, the remaining 12 participants will each receive a commendable prize of INR 5,000.

The judging panel for the competition includes esteemed individuals from the art community, with Shyam Sundar Yadab, Director of Mithila Art Gallery, and Sunaina Thakur, Director of Sunaina Art Gallery, lending their expertise to evaluate the participants’ creations.

Shaurya Cement Industries’ social responsibility initiative through this competition has garnered widespread acclaim for its commitment to promoting Mithila folk art and providing a platform for local talent to shine. The competition not only showcases the rich cultural heritage of the region but also emphasizes the importance of corporate engagement in supporting and fostering artistic endeavors within the community.
