SEE 2080 BS: Board Sets Minimum 35 Marks in Theory for Higher Studies

The National Examinations Board (NEB) has announced significant changes in the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) for the year 2080 BS. The Board, chaired by Dr. Mahashram Sharma, has decided to implement the Letter Grading Directive 2078 BS for the upcoming SEE, impacting over 489,000 students, including both regular and grade improvement candidates.

The SEE is scheduled to take place from March 28 to April 9, 2080 BS. This year, grade ten students will be navigating the examination under the new curriculum, with the results being published based on the recently introduced Letter Grading Directives.

Under the revamped system, each SEE student is required to achieve a minimum of 35 marks in theory out of 100 to qualify for higher studies. Students falling below this threshold will be classified under the Non-Graded category, rendering them ineligible for enrollment in class 11.

In a move to provide students with an opportunity for improvement, the Board has allowed chance exams for two subjects, up to three times, for those who fail to secure the minimum required marks. This initiative aims to offer students a pathway to overcome initial setbacks and continue their education.

NEB Examinations Controller, Nandalal Paudel, disclosed that the grading system has already been implemented in the exams for grade 11 and 12. The Board has intensified its preparations for the SEE, encompassing the printing of question papers, logistical arrangements, and the establishment of examination centers.

This groundbreaking decision marks a significant shift in the evaluation and grading system for secondary education in the country. The NEB’s commitment to ensuring a fair and comprehensive assessment reflects its dedication to fostering academic excellence among the nation’s youth. The educational community and students alike eagerly anticipate the outcome of this innovative approach to the SEE.
