Silver Medal Victory for Nepali Army in UK’s Exercise Cambrian Patrol-2023

The Nepali Army, participating in the competitive ‘Exercise Cambrian Patrol-2023,’ which is taking place at the Sennybridge Training Area in Brecon, Wales, United Kingdom, has been awarded a silver medal.

CoAS Prabhuram Sharma, who is currently visiting the UK, presented medals and certificates to the Nepali army team, as well as teams from Canada, Macedonia, Qatar, the Philippines, and the British army during a ceremony held on Monday.

This competitive exercise, which commenced on October 6th, assesses and evaluates the professional knowledge, combat skills, physical endurance, and the proficiency in individual and collective military operations of the infantry. The participating team is required to cover a distance of approximately 65 km while carrying weapons and 32 kg of equipment and provisions within a 48-hour timeframe.

Gold medals are awarded to teams scoring above 75 percent in practice, while silver medals are granted to teams scoring between 65 and 74.9 percent, and bronze medals go to teams scoring between 55 and 64.9 percent.

The Nepali Army has been actively participating in this international competition since 1960, and it has been hosted annually in Britain since 2014. This year’s ‘Exercise Cambrian Patrol’ sees the participation of 38 international teams representing 31 different countries, with a total of 111 teams competing.

Thus far, the Nepali Army team has secured a total of 7 medals, including 2 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals in this competitive exercise.
