Some Are Not Born to Be Kings or Slaves, Monarchy Not an Option: Oli

CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli firmly declared that the reinstatement of monarchy is not a possibility for Nepal’s future. Dismissing any inclination to revert to the past, Oli emphasized, “We cannot go back. We do not believe that some are born to be kings and some are born to be slaves.”

Oli expressed deep concerns about the challenges faced by the country since the post-UML government took charge, highlighting the escalating political instability and the downturn in the economy. He lamented, “After we (UML) left the government, the country’s economy went down in these two and a half years, politics went into instability, employment opportunities ended.”

Drawing attention to the financial strain on the current government, Oli pointed out the precarious situation, stating, “Now the government does not even have the money to maintain employees. The situation is such that we have to raise internal debt to sustain employees in the first four months. If so, what will be the situation?”

Oli vehemently opposed attempts to divide the Nepalese people based on identity, asserting that the UML has been at the forefront of addressing identity issues. He claimed, “UML has addressed the issue of identity the most; we have included the principle of proportionality and inclusiveness in the constitution. There can be no politics of identity that spreads violence, anarchy, and terror.”

Highlighting the urgency of addressing unemployment, Oli recalled the achievements during his tenure, stating, “During my tenure, the number of young people going abroad decreased by 18 percent, and we kept 9 lakh people above the poverty line.” As the nation grapples with political and economic challenges, Oli urged the government to prioritize the elimination of unemployment as a crucial step towards stability and progress.
