Speaker Calls for Govt. Response to Accusations Against 3 Ministers

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire, has issued a significant ruling demanding a response from the government regarding accusations leveled against three ministers. The ruling was prompted by the obstruction of House proceedings by the main opposition CPN-UML and other parties, demanding accountability for the actions of Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Prakash Jwala, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Sudan Kirati, and Minister for Health and Population Mohan Bahadur Basnet.

The opposition’s demand specifically targets Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, urging him to address the allegations against these ministers. The controversy stems from various investigations and reports. A commission investigating the Balkumari incident, which resulted in the deaths of two youths, has cited negligence on the part of Minister Jwala. Furthermore, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has initiated inquiries into Minister Basnet’s involvement in the procurement of the Teramocs system for the Nepal Telecommunication Authority. Minister Kirati’s decision to allocate 99 ropanis of land in Ramgram to a private entity is also under scrutiny by the CIAA.
