Sumana Shrestha Urges Collaboration for Stronger Academia-Industry Ties

Sumana Shrestha, a central committee member of the RSP (Rastriya Swatantra Party) and a federal lawmaker, emphasized the need for better coordination between educational institutions and the market, particularly concerning the Academic Credit Recognition of work conducted in a professional capacity. Shrestha highlighted the importance of such coordination in providing students with practical experience through internships and setting clear expectations for their transition into the professional job market post-graduation.

Taking to social media, Shrestha stated, “There should be coordination between educational institutions and the market concerning the Academic Credit Recognition of work primarily conducted in a professional capacity. This coordination aids students in gaining practical experience through internships, and it establishes clear expectations for students entering the professional job market after graduation.”

The statement comes after Shrestha’s participation as a keynote speaker during a discussion on “Bridging the Gap between Academia and Industry in ICT,” organized by St. Xavier’s College. The event took place on December 7th, where Shrestha had the privilege to share her insights and recommendations on fostering a stronger connection between academic learning and the demands of the industry, particularly in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
