Supreme Court Petition Challenges Koshi Province’s Decision to Provide Vehicles to Leaders

A writ petition was filed at the Supreme Court on Monday, challenging the ordinance issued by the Koshi Province Government to provide vehicle facilities to leaders of both ruling and opposition parties.

Legal practitioners Kapil Dev Dhakal and Rajendra Prasad Dangal lodged the petition at the Supreme Court, arguing that the ordinance contravenes the constitution and should be annulled.

The petition contends that the Koshi Province Government’s decision, outlined in the Ordinance on Some Province Acts Amendment, which increases the number of office-bearers of the Province Assembly, is unconstitutional.

Under the terms of the ordinance, the province government intends to offer facilities to parliamentary party leaders from all ruling and opposition parties by designating them as province assembly office-bearers.
