Tanahun Hydropower Project Achieves 58.1% Progress, On Track for Completion in Two Years

The 140 MW Tanahun Hydropower Project has reached 58.1 percent completion, according to project chief Shyamji Bhandari. The work is being executed in three packages, with 52.07 percent financial progress reported so far.

In terms of specific tasks, the project has made 35 percent progress in the construction of dams and related structures under package-1. Package-2, which involves building the power plants, has advanced by 59 percent, while 73.5 percent of the transmission line under package-3 is complete.

The project aims to be finished within the next two years, by Asar 2083 BS. Currently, work is ongoing on the supply, installation, and operation of hydromechanical and electromechanical equipment, as well as the construction of tunnels and powerhouses.

Under package-3, KEC International, an Indian company, is constructing a 220 kV double-circuit transmission line from Damauli to Bharatpur in Chitwan.
