Turkish National Arrested at TIA with INR 96,000
The Nepali police have apprehended a Turkish national at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in possession of INR 96,000. The arrest marks another significant move in the ongoing efforts to curb illegal currency transactions in the country.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Krishnahari Sharma Pokhrel, the apprehension occurred on Thursday at 11:30 AM when Abdullah Mia, arriving from the UAE, was found carrying the aforementioned amount of illegal Indian currency.
This incident follows closely on the heels of another currency-related arrest involving two Pakistani nationals just a day prior. The combined haul of foreign currency from these recent arrests totals nearly Rs 1 million.
Police sources have confirmed that all individuals detained in connection with currency-related offenses will be handed over to the Department of Money Laundering Investigation for further scrutiny and subsequent legal proceedings.
