UML’s Suhang Nembang Wins Ilam Constituency By-Poll for HoR

CPN UML candidate Suhang Nembang has been elected as the member of the House of Representatives from Ilam constituency no-2 in the by-poll held on April 27.

Securing a total of 27,772 votes, Nembang emerged victorious over his closest competitor, Dambar Bahadur Khadka from the Nepali Congress, who received 21,942 votes, as confirmed by Chief Returning Officer Keshav Prasad Ghimire.

The UML candidate also received support from the Nepal Pariwar Dal, consolidating his win in the region. Other contenders in the race included Dakendra Sing Limbu (Thegim) of the local party, who garnered 11,457 votes, Rastriya Swatantra Party’s Milan Limbu with 5,050 votes, and Mani Bahadur Limbu from Mangol National Organization, who obtained 816 votes.

The by-election saw significant voter turnout with 69,287 of the 115,889 registered voters casting their ballots. A total of 19 candidates from 12 political parties, along with seven independents, contested in this election.
