Upendra Yadav’s Move: JSP-Nepal’s Central Committee Doubles Up!

In the wake of the Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal’s recent split, Upendra Yadav, the Chairman of JSP, has orchestrated a sweeping overhaul within the party’s framework, aiming to fortify its foundation and enhance inclusivity.

During a pivotal central executive committee meeting held over two days this week, Yadav unveiled a series of structural reforms aimed at rejuvenating the party’s internal dynamics. The centerpiece of these reforms is the expansion of the central committee’s membership, surging from 151 to 251 members. This expansion, a doubling in size, marks a decisive shift in the party’s organizational structure.

The move comes as a strategic response to the recent splintering of the party, with 32 leaders, including prominent figure Ashok Rai, breaking away to form a new faction. Yadav’s administration is evidently keen on consolidating its support base and fostering a more inclusive environment within the party.

Furthermore, the meeting witnessed the introduction of novel leadership positions, signaling a departure from the traditional hierarchy. Two general secretaries have been appointed, superseding the previous single incumbent, in a bid to distribute responsibilities more effectively. Additionally, the number of vice presidents has been augmented from three to five, reflecting the party’s aspirations for broader representation and leadership diversity.

These amendments underscore JSP-Nepal’s commitment to adaptability and responsiveness to internal and external challenges. By revamping its organizational structure and diversifying its leadership, the party seeks to reinforce its resilience and relevance in the political landscape.

Looking ahead, the meeting also outlined a roadmap for the selection of convention representatives by May 23, in anticipation of the upcoming convention slated for June 10 and 11. This meticulous planning underscores the party’s determination to uphold democratic principles and ensure a smooth transition towards its next chapter.
