Upper Tamakoshi Records Rs 4 Billion in First Quarter Power Sales

The Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project, located in Lama Bagar, Bigu Rural Municipality–1 in Dolakha, has reported a remarkable success by selling around Rs 4 billion worth of power supply in the first quarter of the current fiscal year.

The National Pride project, boasting a capacity of 456 MW, demonstrated its financial prowess by earning Rs 3,715,847,758 in the initial quarter of the fiscal year 2080/82, according to the financial report published by the project on November 19. This exceptional performance has translated into a profit of Rs 1,007,258,000 within the last three months.

The project’s financial report indicates that with an initial investment of Rs 3,561,782,000, it has successfully garnered a profit of Rs 797,726,569 by selling electricity in the first quarter of the current fiscal year. However, it is noteworthy that this figure reflects a 26.26 percent decrease compared to the corresponding period in the previous fiscal year.

The Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project commenced its electricity production for commercial purposes on September 11 of the current year. Impressively, the project had reported a substantial profit of Rs 7 billion last year by selling electricity amounting to Rs 8 billion.

Despite the project’s profitability in the electricity market, the shares of the Tamakoshi project have experienced some volatility. Currently, these shares are being traded at 193 per share in the market, reflecting a degree of uncertainty among investors.

The success of the Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project in the power sector is a testament to its significant contribution to the national economy, even as stakeholders closely monitor the fluctuations in its market shares.
