Writ Petition Registered Against PM Dahal and Former PM Bhattarai

The Supreme Court of Nepal has officially registered a writ petition filed against Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and former Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai.

The petition, lodged by former child soldiers Lenin Bista, Krishna Prasad Dangal, and others, accuses the political leaders of being responsible for war crimes during the decade-long armed conflict in the country.

According to Bimal Paudel, the spokesperson for the Supreme Court, the hearing for the writ has been scheduled for next Tuesday.

The writ petitioners contend that the Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist Center, led by Prachanda, has undermined the significant contributions made by child soldiers during the conflict.

It is worth noting that the Supreme Court Administration initially declined to register the writ. However, the single bench of Justice Ananda Mohan Bhattarai issued a directive on Friday, compelling the court to register the petition.
