25-Year-Old Israeli Woman Recognized as Hero for Saving Kibbutz Nir Am from Terrorist Attack

A 25-year-old Inbal Rabin-Lieberman emerged as a hero when she played a pivotal role in defending Kibbutz Nir Am from a terrorist attack by Hamas. This kibbutz, located in the Gaza border strip, remarkably escaped severe damage due to her actions.

On the fateful morning of October 7, Inbal was among the first to recognize the impending danger and took immediate charge of the community’s defense, according to Details magazine. Her brave efforts did not go unnoticed, and in December 2022, she was appointed as the kibbutz’s Military Security Coordinator.

Born and raised in Kibbutz Nir Am, Inbal had served in IDF combat units and studied at the Women’s Leadership School, making her well-prepared for the crucial role. As the Military Security Coordinator, Inbal was responsible for the safety of the community in both routine and emergency situations until the arrival of IDF or police forces. This role is financially supported by the Defense Ministry budget.

Inbal succeeded her uncle, Ami Rabin, in this position. Tragically, On October 7, 2023, she lost a close supporter when Sha’ar ha-Negev Regional Council head Ofir Liebstein, who had congratulated her on her appointment, was killed by terrorists.

Inbal took her duties with the utmost seriousness. On that fateful morning in October, she quickly assessed the threat and organized a “rapid response team” of residents who were provided with weapons. She meticulously planned the kibbutz’s defense and positioned men in ambushes at the kibbutz fence, successfully thwarting the terrorists who attempted to infiltrate.

All the Hamas militants who sought to harm civilians were met with resolute resistance, resulting in the deaths of twenty-five militants at the kibbutz fence.

After the residents managed to repel the terrorists, Inbal and her family, like many others, were evacuated from the area. She stayed at a hotel in Tel Aviv, where she celebrated her birthday on October 9. Mayor Ron Huldai paid her a visit, lauding her as a heroine for her bravery and cool-headedness.

As social media users have pointed out, Inbal Rabin-Lieberman is not only a local hero but also an active participant in protests against judicial reform on Kaplan Street, showcasing her commitment to civic activism.
