All indicators of economy improving: FM Mahat

Finance Minister Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat has shared that all the indicators of country’s economy are improving.

At a programme organised by Nepal Trade Union Congress at Lalitpur today, Finance Minister Mahat mentioned that arrival of tourists is increasing, interest rate of banks and financial institutions is decreasing and remittance is on the rise.

“Indicators of economy are now improving. We tried to make the monetary policy liberal to some extent by holding discussion. Industry and business would become stronger gradually. Demand of workers will also be increased,” he stressed.

The Finance Minister laid emphasis that the Trade Union should play significant role to create opportunities of employment for jobless people.

He expressed the belief that workers and entrepreneurs should know each other through continuous talks and should make their relations friendly. Minister Mahat added that the government is going to organise an investment summit in coming May to bring in investment in Nepal.

Stating that cost of industrial goods produced in Nepal could not been made less as compared to imported goods, he expressed the view that remuneration of workers has not been timely increased due to low productivity.

“There is a challenge among us to increase productivity. Development of infrastructure is necessary for the same”, explained the Finance Minister, adding infrastructure development is on the priority of the government.

Stressing on the need of appropriate utilization of workers’ knowledge and capacity, he drew attention that industrialists should use new technology to reduce the cost and trade unions should develop the capacity of workers.
