Nepse Sees a Dip Amid Fluctuating Trade

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) witnessed a downward shift on Monday, closing at 1,958.75, a fall of 15.62 points from the previous session. The market experienced a volatile day beginning at 1,974.37 points, initially dropping to a low of 1,956.12 points early in the trading hours.

Despite a brief recovery where the index climbed roughly 12 points, it couldn’t sustain the momentum, ultimately bottoming out at 1,953.24 points towards the close. A slight recovery was observed in the final minutes, where it regained about five points.

The sensitive index, which tracks the performance of ‘A’ class companies, also recorded a downturn, dropping by 3.38 points. The overall trading volume decreased notably with the day’s turnover marking Rs 2.89 billion, down from Rs 3.79 billion on Sunday.

In sectoral performances, development banks outperformed with a gain of 9.33 points in their index, standing out as the sole winner in Monday’s market. Conversely, the non-life insurance sector faced the steepest decline, losing 112.60 points.

Among individual companies, 62 recorded gains while a significant 177 posted losses. Citizen Life Insurance Company Limited led in terms of trading volume, with a turnover of Rs 319.83 million. Meanwhile, Pokhara Finance Ltd emerged as the biggest loser in terms of share price, whereas Bottlers Nepal (Terai) Limited saw the highest price gain, up by 9.03 percent.

This fluctuation highlights the continued unpredictability in the Nepalese stock market, impacting investors and sectors variably.
