Ambassador Subedi Presents Credentials to Swiss President Amidst Ceremonial Splendor

In a momentous ceremony held at the Federal Palace in Bern, Switzerland, on January 9, Mr. Ram Prasad Subedi, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nepal to the Swiss Confederation, presented his Letters of Credence to the esteemed President of the Swiss Confederation, Ms. Viola Amherd. The occasion was marked by a grand Guard of Honour accorded to Ambassador Subedi upon his arrival at the Palace, as reported by the Embassy of Nepal in Geneva.

During a formal audience with President Amherd, Ambassador Subedi conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the President of Nepal, Ramchandra Paudel, and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. The envoy expressed sincere hopes for the personal health and happiness of President Amherd and extended well-wishes for the continued peace, progress, and prosperity of the Swiss people.

Highlighting the robust bilateral relations between Nepal and Switzerland, Ambassador Subedi emphasized his commitment to fostering stronger ties and broadening cooperation between the two nations. He particularly pointed out opportunities for collaboration in the realms of trade, tourism, and investment. The Ambassador also acknowledged Switzerland’s support, particularly through Swiss Development Cooperation, in various initiatives within Nepal, including contributions to the peace process.

In response, President Amherd echoed similar sentiments, underlining the enduring and friendly relations between Nepal and Switzerland. She reassured the Ambassador of the unwavering goodwill and friendship between the two nations, pledging full cooperation in the discharge of his duties.

Later in the evening, Ambassador Subedi held discussions with Mr. Alexandre Fasel, the State Secretary of the Swiss Confederation, at the Federal Palace in Bern. Their talks revolved around exploring opportunities for collaboration, including high-level political meetings, regular bilateral consultations, fostering economic cooperation, cultural exchanges, and enhancing people-to-people contacts. The discussions reflected the shared commitment to strengthen the multifaceted ties between Nepal and Switzerland in the years to come.
