Basanta Nembang, a Member of the House of Representatives and prominent leader of the Unified Marxist-Leninist (UML) party, was rushed to District Hospital Taplejung after unexpectedly falling ill.
Nembang had traveled to Fungling, the headquarters of Taplejung, to participate in the CPN UML District Committee’s secretariat meeting. The incident occurred at the Pathibhara guest house, where Nembang faced difficulty getting up from his seat after a meal.
A UML leader reported, “Upon experiencing difficulty, we promptly decided to bring him to the hospital. We have arranged for a helicopter to transfer him to Kathmandu for further medical attention.”
Province Chair Ghanshyam Khatiwada and other UML leaders were present in Taplejung for the scheduled secretariat meeting on Wednesday. Basanta Nembang holds the position of in-charge of the UML district committee in Taplejung.
