Biplav Faces 35-Day Arrest Warrant Over Alleged National Crimes

The District Court Kathmandu has issued arrest warrants against key leaders of the Communist Party of Nepal, including General Secretary Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav,’ spokesperson Khadga Bahadur Bishwokarma, and All Nepal Peasants’ Federation Revolutionary Chairperson Raju Karki. The arrest warrants come in connection to a case registered on September 26, 2019, citing crimes against the nation.

According to the court’s notice, a 35-day arrest warrant has been issued under Section 58 (13) of the Civil Code of Criminal Procedure 2074, following an order on November 26, 2023. The court has mandated that the accused leaders must appear with evidence within the stipulated 35 days. Failure to comply may result in legal actions being taken against them.

The court’s provision further emphasizes that no complaints will be entertained after this period, signaling a strict adherence to legal procedures. The charges against the leaders have added a layer of complexity to the ongoing political landscape, and their response to the arrest warrants is keenly awaited.
