CAN Receives Sports Equipment from India

In a significant gesture of sports diplomacy, India’s Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, handed over a batch of professional cricket equipment to the Nepali Cricket Team Captain, Rohit Paudel. The donation included 20 top-quality bats from Sareen Sports Industries, reinforcing the burgeoning camaraderie between the two neighboring nations.

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) reciprocated the goodwill by presenting the team jersey to Ambassador Srivastava. The momentous event was graced by the presence of CAN President Chatur Bahadur Chand and Secretary Paras Khadka, both stalwarts in Nepali cricket. CAN expressed its gratitude to the Embassy of India in Kathmandu and emphasized that this gesture marks the initiation of a promising partnership between the Embassy and CAN.

The cricket equipment was provided on behalf of the B.P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation (BPKF) and SJVN Limited, a Government of India Public Sector Undertaking. It is worth noting that the Embassy of India in Kathmandu had previously contributed by providing a bus to CAN and extended support to the Nepal Deaf Cricket Team through BPKF.

This generous donation of cricket equipment not only bolsters Nepal’s cricketing aspirations but also strengthens the people-to-people ties between India and Nepal. Cricket, often considered a religion in both countries, is now a conduit for fostering greater cooperation and goodwill between the two nations.
