China to Host Russia, Iran for Nuclear Talks

China is set to host Russia and Iran for trilateral discussions on Tehran’s nuclear program this Friday, according to an announcement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry. The meeting will bring together senior officials from all three nations, including China’s Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Ryabkov Sergey Alexeevich, and Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi.
These talks take place against the backdrop of ongoing tensions over Iran’s nuclear activities. During former US President Donald Trump’s first term, the United States withdrew from the 2015 nuclear agreement and reinstated sanctions on Tehran. Initially, Iran continued to comply with the terms of the deal but gradually began reducing its commitments in response to the US withdrawal.
Efforts to revive the agreement have since faltered, and the upcoming discussions are expected to play a crucial role in shaping the future course of Iran’s nuclear program.
