CJ Shrestha says he did not have to look back after joining judiciary

Chief Justice Bishowambhar Prasad Shrestha has said that he never had to look back once he joined the judicial service.

“I did not have to look back after entering the judiciary. I am always reaching to the front position,” he said while addressing a programme to felicitate him organized by the Sudurpaschim Sarokar Manch (Far-west Concerned Forum) here today.

As he said, he has always reached the first position in his career development after that due to his best work performance.

Stating that he feels honoured by the felicitation offered him by the Forum, the Chief Justice said this honour will support him in becoming more active in the judiciary’s works.

On the occasion, he recalled that he involved himself in studies and career development despite various difficulties at a time when there was no road connectivity from Doti district where he was born to Kathmandu and one had to travel via India to come to the capital.

CJ Shrestha said he feels that he is faring well in his works and everyone felt the same way. “I love Sudurpaschim so much. It is my birth place and it is in our nature to have affinity with one’s birthplace,” he said, adding that the Forum Has been carrying out good works and wished that it will continue such works in the coming days as well. He also pledged support from his side whatever is possible.

Forum president Bahadur Singh Bista shared about the works the Forum has been carrying out. He felicitated the Chief Justice on behalf the organisation. Founding patron of the Forum and former Inspector General of Police Motilal Bohara honoured the Chief Justice by presenting him with a shawl. Forum’s advisors, office-bearers and members were also present on the occasion.

Born on October 16, 1959 in Doti district of Sudurpaschim, Shrestha started his career as a Section Officer in 1984. He holds Bachelor’s degree in Law and Masters degree in Political Science from Tribhuvan University.

He was the Deputy Registrar at the Supreme Court in 2049 BS. He was appointed to the post of Chief Justice of Nepal on August 22 by the President.
