Commission deplores discrimination against Dalit community
The National Dalit Commission has drawn serious attention of the government to book the Chairman of Bhagwanpur Rural Municipality in Siraha, Ugra Narayan Yadav, for his involvement in a discriminatory incident against Dalit community.
Issuing a press note on Thursday, the Commission has asked the government to take action against Yadav by taking him under control for practising caste-based discrimination act and untouchability.
The Commission has drawn attention of the government to protect the human rights of the Dalit community as well.
According to the Commission, the rural municipality chairman organized separate receptions to the Dalit and non-Dalit communities on March 6 while organizing a ritual on the 13th day of the passing away of his mother.
“The Commission deplores the act of organizing separate receptions even by posting banners in public to segregate the Dalit community which has been suppressed since long back,” the Dalit Commission said in its statement.
