COVID-19 Resurfaces in Chitwan After 10 Months, Two Confirmed Cases Reported

In a concerning development, the presence of the COVID-19 virus has been confirmed in Chitwan after a hiatus of 10 months. The infected individuals, a 29-year-old youth and a 66-year-old man, underwent laboratory tests on Sunday and today, as announced by Gopal Paudel, the information officer of Bharatpur Hospital.

The elderly man sought medical attention for pneumonia, leading to the discovery of the coronavirus infection. He has been admitted to the hospital, and treatment has commenced. On the other hand, the 29-year-old patient is currently undergoing home-based isolation.

Gitanjali Dhakal, the Public Health Officer of the Health Office, Chitwan, expressed that this marks the resurgence of COVID-19 in the district, with the last reported case dating back to March of the previous year.

In response to the confirmed cases, the Health Office Chitwan has issued a public advisory urging residents to exercise caution. The office recommends maintaining physical distance, wearing masks, and regular handwashing with soap and water as preventive measures against the spread of the coronavirus.

As the district confronts this renewed threat, authorities emphasize the importance of collective efforts in adhering to health guidelines to curb the further transmission of the virus. The situation is being closely monitored, and additional measures may be implemented to safeguard public health.
